Rye News to interview local police chief

Your questions to Sussex Police
The Police Station in Rye

Chief Inspector Jay Mendis-Gunasekera is the Sussex Police district commander for Rye. As well as being responsible for policing our part of East Sussex, he also looks after Hastings, Battle and Bexhill. He will be talking to Rye News in February to answer your questions about the work of the local police team. What would you like to ask him?

Whilst crime rates in Rye are lower than elsewhere, what’s your experience of Sussex Police? Rye police station is open part-time, so does it still have a future?  Do you think our town gets the police resources it needs compared to the bigger towns in Sussex? It’s rare to see a police officer on foot patrol in Rye, so how are Sussex Police targeting criminals? But what would you like to ask? Get in touch now with your questions for Chief Inspector Mendis-Gunasekera.

You can send your questions – either written or recorded as a voice note - to ryecastsussex@gmail.com. We’ll also record some to put direct to the chief inspector and report back in a future edition of Rye News. You’ll be able to hear the whole discussion on the Ryecast podcast too. This interview is part of a series Rye News has planned to get to know the people responsible for looking after our town and to ask them your questions.
