Water is not a popular word in Rye at the moment: some have none, others have supplies they don't need but one venue which hasn’t been affected by lack of water is Rye Sports Centre. After months of campaigning and with a huge amount of hard work by a small army of individuals and groups your pool is now open!

I visited the sports centre today and in conversation with one of the duty managers he said that he was delighted with the feedback from visitors arriving at the pool yesterday. However, many people are not aware that it’s back open so please, tell your friends, family, neighbours, schools or anyone who wants to swim in this fabulous venue. Launch something on social media, tell the world - after all we don’t want a use it or lose it scenario so its future depends on all of us.

The image below confirms the pool opening times for October, and no doubt there will be adjustments as numbers increase but having the pool open, even with restricted opening times, is a mammoth achievement by all concerned.

There’s plenty of water at Rye Sports Centre and a warm welcome for you when you arrive.
