Young sailors chase the Egg

Young sailors chase the Egg
boats coming ashore after the Easter Egg Race at RHSC

Easter has come and gone, but for the young sailors of Rye Harbour Sailing Club, now back at school, memories of Bank Holiday Monday on the water still linger, despite the pressure, perhaps, of forthcoming exams, writes Caroline Wylson. This was the day of the annual Easter Egg Race for the dinghy section of the club.

With the start in Rye Bay and the finish opposite the Club, seven dinghies took part in light to gusting winds - testing conditions for the sailors to get the best out of their boats. Skilful sailing saw Scott Wilkinson in his Topper class boat come home the winner in a corrected time of 18 minutes 50 seconds, to be presented with first prize by the club President, Carey Marsh. Refreshments were served in the clubhouse after the race.
