What you did to me

A poem about humans' effect on the natural world

What you did to me
Woolly_mammoth

A poem from Xavier Marrs, aged 12.

What you did to me

You came at me with crude weapons,
Attacking me in a matter of seconds,
I will just become a legend.

My tusks are long,
My feet are strong,
But you are a terrifying throng.

I swing at you,
With my two,
But you knew that too.

I try to roar,
You need more,
My pain is still raw.

I hear your call,
I do not want to fall,
My family are lines on your wall.

You wanted my meat and my blood,
Bringing me down with a thud,
Crusting me with mud.

You rip my skin,
And just grin,
Not caring for your new sin.
