Waterloo comes to Winchelsea

The bicentenary of the epoch-making Battle of Waterloo will be the subject of a talk to the Winchelsea Archaeological Society (WAS) by Colonel Anthony Kimber of Rye, who has been leading guided tours to the battlefield for over 10 years. He served in the regiment that served at Waterloo as the 30th Regiment of Foot. It is hoped to have a large floor plan of the battlefield on which to demonstrate the unfolding of the battle. The talk will be held in the Court Hall in Winchelsea at 3pm on Saturday July 25. All are welcome. The talk is free to WAS members and £4 to the public, writes Richard Comotto.
