Rye News: election plans and priorities for our next MP

Vote 2024 - Have your say
The view of Rye from St Mary's tower

Whoever wins the race to be our MP, the successful candidate will have a very long to-do list. Over the next few weeks Rye News is going to help him or her shape their priorities.

We're going to spend June asking local people what they think the MP for Hastings and Rye should concentrate on following the general election on Thursday, July 4. You can get involved by leaving a comment below, emailing info@ryenews.org.uk or by talking to one of our team.

We've asked each of the six (so far) candidates to write an article outlining what they hope to do for people in Rye together with a short biography. In 400 words or so. Rye News will publish them all on Friday, June 21.

Also in the planning: analysis of the Hastings and Rye constituency, interviews with visiting politicians, and articles featuring local people who haven't made up their mind yet.

In the run up to the vote we'll have election news updates, report on the Rye hustings on Saturday, June 29, and on Friday, July 5 we'll publish the result as soon as it is announced.

Our social media will follow the local story of the election too, with updates on Instagram, X, Facebook and Threads.

So over to you? What do you think should be the priority for the MP for Hastings and Rye?
