Although we have yet to hear of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Rye, the recently formed Rye Mutual Aid group (RYEMAG) was preparing for what is to come.
This week the team has been working on the delivery of personal protective equipment (PPE) around the 20 areas that the group covers, 10 in Rye itself, and 10 in the surrounding villages of Beckley, Camber and East Guldeford, Rye Foreign and Playden, Udimore, Brede and Broad Oak, Winchelsea and Winchelsea Beach, Icklesham, Pett and Pett Level, Rye Harbour and Peasmarsh.
Volunteers have already been receiving phone calls, most of them at the moment not requiring any practical help. But they expect the volume of calls and the need to rise considerably.
More information is available on the website which is updated regularly. It is the best place to go for up to date information, but spare a thought for neighbours who may not have access to the internet.
The latest list of dispatchers (area co-ordinators) is available here. Perhaps a neighbour without internet access would like an update? Although leaflets have been delivered to (hopefully) every postal address, there have already been several changes as more volunteers have come forward.
