The peace of a Saturday afternoon in Landgate was disturbed when a car caught fire, writes John Minter. The driver had noticed smoke from the engine as he came round the corner from Tower Street and immediately jumped out and tried to disconnect the battery and isolate the electrics. However it was too late and with the engine compartment well ablaze the local fire brigade were called and soon had the fire out. The vehicle was later removed. Photo: John Minter
