Last Saturday, the Rye Vaccination Centre ended the latest round of Covid booster vaccinations for over 75s and the vulnerable. The centre saw the last of some 56,000 patients vaccinated since the start of the programme at the end of May 2021.
This has been a significant community effort by a small number of professionals from, or organised by Clarity Chemists led by Ankit Tyagi and supported at peak demand, by a pool of around sixty volunteers. Thanks go to the Rye Partnership for leasing a part of the Tilling Green community centre for the purpose.
There is no clarity about any future Covid vaccination programme but we wait to see if the UK Covid Vaccination Authorities recommend further vaccinations for those considered to be at high risk. The NHS has said that it is prepared to stand up future campaigns when and if expert advice is given to the government.
The Sussex NHS Clinical Commissioning Group has congratulated everyone involved in the Rye operation noting that this has been a "fantastic effort, demonstrating the power and commitment of the community working together with health professionals".
