Two needed to help with health

New opportunity to help Hastings and Rother clinical commissioning group plan a new service. What is it?

Hastings and Rother Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is the legal  body that plans and commissions health care services locally. It is led by clinicians and contracts for most of the hospital and community services that we receive.

A most important part of this is the contribution that local people make to providing a public and patient perspective. In this instance, the CCG need the help of two people to join a group that is planning for community based musculoskeletal services (MSK) – muscles, bones and joints to the rest of us! – giving the examples of physiotherapy, rheumatology and orthopaedics.

This new MSK service must be able to work in partnership with GPs and other local organisations, improve the care and experience of patients and provide safe and effective treatment.

The people selected do not need formal qualifications but a genuine desire to support the local National Health Service (NHS) and see that MSK services are relevant to what is needed. They must be articulate, balanced and able to bring an understanding of the needs and experiences of local community members, as patients and as carers. A wide perspective of possible health needs, not personal views, are what is wanted. In addition, there will obviously be the need to evaluate bids for the service applications and tendering process.

For a comprehensive description of the opportunity outlined briefly above, how to express interest, the commitment required and other important details, contact chandni.maher@nhs.net or call 01273 485300 by August 22 2016.
