Rye Town were expecting a tough game as they travelled away last Saturday, March 11, to face Hawkhurst, who are sixth in the East Sussex Premier League.

After a goal-less first half Rye finally took control early in the second when Charlie Stevens put them 1-0 up after an assist from Rob Wilson. The game ended 1-0 to Rye Town. Charlie Stevens walked away with the man of the match award with fans describing his performance as outstanding.

Rye will now play Bexhill AAC in the final after Bexhill defeated Sedlescombe 4-1 in the other semi-final.

This Saturday, March 18, Rye look to complete the first part of an amazing treble as they play their final home game of the season when they entertain local neighbours Icklesham Casuals, with kick-off at 3pm. The game now has added spice to it as Rye’s nearest league rivals Bexhill Town lost 5-2 to Little Common which means Rye only need a point to be crowned champions.
