Three lifeboat firsts on Saturday
RNLI Rye Harbour shout

RNLI Rye Harbour's Atlantic 85 was tasked at 7pm on June 6 by HM Coastguard to assist an eighteen-year-old male who had drifted away from the shore. It was the first helm call-out for Luke Bishop, who only passed out as helm the last evening. Neil Jolly had his first shout as deputy launching authority and it was Dave Rees’s first shout as shore crew.

Other crew assisting in the rescue were Jamie Guinn and Tia Bolton on the boat. Mark, Dave, Jack were shore crew with James as head launcher. The tractor driver was Gary. As always, it takes a team to achieve such a positive, professional rescue and it was carried out speedily and a potentially dangerous situation was averted.
