A junior team from Rye LTC travelled to Hastings last weekend to play against a similar team from The Green LTC.
There were six juniors in each team, and the match was played in a terrific spirit on a glorious day, After five very competitive matches the Rye juniors were leading by three games to two, and the final match between Ben Satow ( Green ) and Dan Lane ( Rye ) lasted over two hours. Ending in a second set tie break ( 8-6 ) and a victory for Rye, it meant that Rye won the match by four games to two.
The Green winners were Christopher Strickland, and Owen Goddard, and Rye winners were Dan Lane, Felix Rogers, Harry Mayes, and Freyer Starkey. Also playing were Finn Kearns and Ruby Starkey for Rye, and Max Pavek, Alex Westcott, and Theo Marsden for The Green .
It is hoped that a return match at Rye LTC can be arranged in the Spring.
