Strumming away at the fete!

Strumming away at the fete!
Rye Ukelele Experiment rock the house at the summer fete at Rye Hospital

The sun shone and the wind blew as the Rye Ukulele Experiment strummed away at the Rye, Winchelsea and District Hospital's well attended summer fete on Saturday June 13, opened by recently re-elected local MP Amber Rudd. It featured donkeys, boxing, glasses of Pimms, a raffle, tombola and home made cakes among the attractions, not forgetting "Splat the Rat".

More than 1,000 visitors came to support their local community hospital and to view the new Sanctuary Extra Care flats at St Bartholomew's Court and the newly refurbished hospital reception area. Jo Pappenheim, Fundraising Administrator, commented "visitors said it was just what a summer fete should be, with lots of fun, music, games, vintage tea tent and of course the donkeys".

None of this would have been possible without support from local businesses, donating an astonishing array of raffle prizes and the team of volunteers which manned the stalls, controlled the donkeys, washed up the tea cups and did a lot else besides.
