My name is Audrey and I’m eleven years old. I went to a tiny primary school. After my eleventh birthday, I felt even more ready to move on to a new school.
Choosing a new school was hard. I went to visit a few secondary schools: Homewood, Ark Alexandra and Rye College. I didn’t like Rye College at first but then I realised it was a great school. Everyone was so happy and friendly. I was impressed by the music, art, science, dance and drama departments.
The transition days were fun. I felt very independent on those days as I took the bus to the school and paid for my own food. It was fun to sit and chat to my friends. I tried some different lessons at a slightly higher level, and luckily they weren’t challenging. I made some new friends, but I still have my other older friends who I know well.
I had a good six years at my small school, St Thomas ‘s Primary in Winchelsea. I made a lot of great friends there over the years. Sadly, my best friend Zoe moved away and left our school. I cried a lot, but quickly made plenty of new friends. I learnt many different things and knew my teachers well. Three of my good friends are going to different schools but we stay in touch. I still miss Zoe, but I’m really looking forward to starting at Rye College in September.
