It's that time again as Rye hosts the annual Classic Car Cruise. For timings and the best place to watch, read Dan Lake's report

Classic cars come cruising back into town this Sunday, November 15, hoping to win prizes in six classes including the best pre-65 American, best hot rod and the Mayor's choice. And inevitably this will mean road closures in the station area between 2 and 4pm, affecting traffic into and through the town, from both Udimore and Winchelsea in particular, so be warned.

The throbbing sound of ancient, but powerful, engines will fill the streets of Rye as the Classic Car Cruise leaves Camber Sands around 2:30pm, drives in convoy into town where they will cruise twice through the narrow streets before making for the station car park (shown above).

There you can take a closer look at these very special and rare machines and maybe chat to the owners. The prizes, consisting of specially commissioned hand painted plates made by Romney Marsh Ceramics and sponsored by Rye Chamber of Commerce, Rye Hotels and Caterers Association and Rye Marketing Group, will be presented by Rye’s Deputy Mayor Cllr Jonathan Breeds at about 3:30pm. Don’t forget your cameras and camcorders.
