An open garden with sun and song is promised this Saturday, as the Rye-based Music Well holds its annual fund-raising event.
The lovely walled garden at Little Orchard House at 3 West Street in the heart of Rye’s medieval citadel will be open between 11am and 4pm on July 21. And during the day there will be singing by the Music Well Singers, the light touch of Andrew Blyth on keyboards and the beautiful voice of Catrina Lafferty. In addition, there will be a chance to have a go at drumming, using some of the Music Well’s instruments.
Otherwise, just sit back and enjoy the garden, knowing your £3 entry fee will go towards the amazing work of the Music Well – a community-interest company that provides not only music therapy to adults and children but organises community activities such as a singing group, where the accent is on enjoyment rather than attempting to be an award-winning choir, and a drumming group for teenagers.
There will also be homemade soup to buy and cream teas will be served, as well as refreshments, all prepared by the Music Well’s volunteers.
And for those who have a head for heights, there is the chance to climb to the top of the mysterious Smugglers’ Tower which is perhaps the crowning glory of the garden.
