While the south east escaped the brunt of Hurricane Irma, the southerly winds that it brought carried not only warm air from the Iberian peninsula but also Saharan dust, turning the sky a sickly yellow and providing an extraordinary sepia sunset over Mermaid Street, writes Andrew Bamji.
