Ryesingers performed an interesting programme of Purcell, Banchieri, Bach, Handel, Schubert and less well known composers as well as Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb on Saturday October 20. The latter was a very difficult piece with various solos and while the choir did their best, the audience might have found the discordance, which was part of the music of course, quite hard to listen to.

The rest of the concert was wonderful. Though the choir is small in numbers the sound was full and rounded and the soloists were excellent. There were a couple of readings which were very funny and certainly tickled the audience's humour. A lot of work had clearly gone into the performances.

It would have been nice if there had been more people and local support for the Ryesingers especially as a lot of the concerts are to raise funds for the churches, this time for the Methodist church. Thanks are due to everyone who attended and the audience loved it when invited to accompany the choir in Jerusalem.
