A talk on Sheila Kaye Smith is to be given by Christine Hayward to the Northiam Historical and Literary Society on October 24, writes Kenneth Bird. Sheila Kaye Smith (1887-1956) was a prolific author, best known for writing about rural life in her native Sussex, most memorably Joanna Godden, which was set on Romney Marsh She and her husband lived at Little Doucegrove, Northiam and were responsible for building the nearby Catholic Chapel.
