One fire engine remains at the scene of a serious fire in Playden near Rye.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised at 11:33am on 29 June 2018 after repeat calls to the Sussex Control Centre. At the height of the incident six fire engines were at the scene supported by the water bowser and command support unit. Firefighters and officers worked hard in hot weather conditions to bring the incident under control. Two homes have been badly damaged. Crews spent the latter part of the afternoon cooling down LPG cylinders which were at the scene. The cause of the fire has not been confirmed. Source: E. Sussex Fire and Rescue Service
