Artist, town councillor and general man about town John Izod, rests outside Grammar School records on his way to Adams to see a man about some printing. But the paper in his hand is a secret - not be revealed until November.
He was delivering new cartoons for the Bonfire Society's programme, which should be on sale early November - particularly as Rye's Bonfire Night is on November 14. It is possible the secrecy is about who's going to be burnt in effigy this year, as an even more secret consortium bid at the Bonfire Society's fund raising auction for this honour. But John, as always, is a man of few words.
