Rye’s new podcast – Ryecast – is now live, with the launch episode ready for Sussex Day on Thursday. In the first edition our town crier has a special cry, presenter James Stewart looks forward to future episodes by revealing his A to Z about the town, and there's the sound of a very frisky donkey.
You can hear Ryecast on most podcast platforms (search for Ryecast) and at www.ryecast.org. Just look out for the logo (above),designed by local graphic artist Mark Baker and which features the famous red roofed hut on the nature reserve.
I’ve loved recording the sound effects needed for this edition, not least working with Paul Goring, Rye’s town crier, on his special Ryecast cry. A big crowd gathered in the Gun Garden as Paul delivered his faultless performance. The A to Z of Rye has been fascinating to put together, especially getting a loud (and vigorous) performance out of Donny the donkey as I walked along the West Undercliff path. However I’ve completely failed with the letter Z – what do you think I should have recorded? Get in touch and I'll feature it - and you.

I’m always after suggestions about what to feature next. It could be a piece of hidden Rye history that you want to know more about or something in Rye that deserves wider recognition.
