A warning notice outside Rye Town Hall warns that Lion Street will be closed to traffic from May 4 - 7, with East Street and Market Street becoming two way and all parking bays suspended.

This is to enable Power Networks to renew the electricity substation behind the Kino and St Mary's Centre to provide increased supply to the George Hotel. A 60 tonne crane is expected to arrive on May 5 to lift the new generator over the roof tops, with work scheduled to be completed by May 10. Meanwhile there will be some disruption in the vicinity.
