The unbeaten Beckley Rangers Eagles U18s welcomed a strong Broad Oak U18s side to The Maltings, Peasmarsh on Sunday. A difficult pitch meant chances were very limited for both sides.

It was a battle in the midfield with Beckley’s Olly Bunn letting the opposition know he was there with some great tackles. But it was Rangers' Charlie Smith who broke the deadlock with a through ball from Lucas Zon, which Smith ran on to, calmly slotting the ball home.

But the lead only lasted 10 minutes as a quick break down the left side saw a Broad Oak winger run into the Rangers box and win a penalty from a clumsy Beckley tackle. The penalty was converted, 1-1.

With five minutes until half time, a long throw from Olly Bunn was met by Josh Zon, who then managed to score to restore the Beckley lead, 2-1 at half time.

The second half started with Broad Oak on the front foot with some good possession. By 15 minutes in, it paid off, when Broad Oak won a free kick on the edge of the box which took a slight deflection off the wall and went straight into the top corner, which gave Nathan Padgen (Beckley's goalie) no chance of saving (2-2).

The game then played out with both teams running out of energy on a muddy pitch with a couple of half chances for both teams to steal the win, but it ended all square 2-2, so Beckley's unbeaten run continues. The Lankelma and MPL productions Man of the Match was Olly Bunn.

Next game at Beckley is on Sunday November 8 to Tonbridge Invicta in the Crowborough U18s League Cup, kick off 11am.
