A quacking time had by all

The River Tillingham was blocked to all traffic bar ducks - plastic ones, that is - last Saturday, as the pre-school playgroup's annual duck race got underway, followed by a fun afternoon at the playgroup

On Saturday (September 20) Rye pre-school playgroup held its annual duck race on the river Tillingham at the Ferry Road bridge.

The race always attracts a huge crowd and this year was no exception, with more than 400 ducks being sold prior to the event and on the day. Children and adults followed the race along the river bank in anticipation that their duck would be the winner.

The winner of the duck race was Janet Wood, who purchased the number 12 duck. Her prize: a duck, of course! But a wooden one.

After the race everyone was invited back to the playgroup for a fun afternoon which included stalls, a bouncy castle and a BBQ.
