Local artists defy the lockdown legacy

Pop-up art exhibition
Janet Hakin, Atmospheric

It all happened because of a chance remark over coffee one morning, bemoaning the heaps of paintings piling up, going nowhere, as real-life, in-the-flesh art club exhibitions were cancelled for the second year in a row due to Covid-19. So it was that this fearless band of four friends, who happen to be neighbours, decided to mount their own pop-up exhibition in Rye - and hope the artworks will fly!

Should you be in town enjoying the delights of the arts festival, then please find the time to drop in to this pop-up exhibition of paintings, porcelain and ceramics!

St. Mary’s Centre, Lion Street, Rye, TN31 7LB

Daily, Friday 24th September – Sunday 26th September

10am - 5pm

Free entry. Card payments accepted.

The exhibiting artists are:

LINDEL WILLIAMS: Original paintings, digital prints & ceramics. Exciting, mainly large scale, abstract or semi-abstract work in many mediums, including digital, frequently inspired by nature, as well as a selection of ceramics.

ELAINE BAKER: - Original paintings and Art on Porcelain. Another inspirational artist working mainly in acrylics and again abstract or semi-abstract but many works incorporating beetles and bugs in both her paintings and exquisitely painted/gilded
porcelain ware.

TRICIA BOWLER: Original Paintings, Prints and Cards. Very popular, representational, local land- town- & seascapes in watercolour, gouache and oil.

JANET HAKEN: Original Paintings, Prints and Cards. Acrylic abstracts and other genre in her signature square format.
