Anthony Kimber will be made an honorary freeman at a special meeting of Rye Town Council next Monday, October 28 for "nearly 20 years of voluntary service to the town , notably co-ordinating and drafting the adopted Rye Neighbourhood Plan (RNP)".
The ceremony will be followed by the normal council meeting which will be considering council finances and the future running of the Heritage Centre.
The planning committee will then consider an application from The Grove.
Anthony has also been a driving force in the Friends of St Mary's, Rye's emergency group REACT and the Rye Art Gallery, as well as being president of the British Legion and vice-chair of the Rye Neighbourhood Plan steering group.
This year's civic remembrance service organised by the British Legion will be at St Mary's on Sunday, November 10 starting at 10:55am for the eleven o'clock one minute silence, preceded by uniformed groups marching up East Street from Adams at 10:30am for the mayor's salute at 10:35am outside the town hall. Those attending need to be in their church seats by 10:50am for the service led by Rye Rector David Frost (shown above).
