Peak time roadworks again

Even overnight roadworks can cause problems, and temporary traffic lights have caused massive tailbacks

Road repair markings on South Undercliff could mean long queues

Just as Rye News was being published, East Sussex Highways were busy on Station Approach in Rye all night from 8pm Thursday August 31 to 6am the following day.

How the traffic would be diverted to enable the increasingly heavy traffic into Rye from the Udimore Road to get to the A259, and vice versa, was not clear – but the holiday period traffic is still quite considerable, even overnight.

Road repairs on the A259 Fishmarket Road with traffic lights controlling one-way movement recently resulted in considerable time-consuming queues into Rye from both directions, and it seems further delays are imminent with road markings now in South Undercliff on probable repairs (pictured right).
