No plans for a KFC store in Rye despite job adverts

KFC in Dartford

There are no plans to open a KFC fast food restaurant in Rye according to the company - in spite of job adverts for a store manager based in the town appearing online.

The adverts, which were posted on several recruitment websites on March 11, have now been removed. The company was unable to confirm why the adverts mentioned Rye. The nearest new KFC stores in development are thought to be in Ashford and Tunbridge Wells.

Online speculation about the new KFC included possible locations and a discussion about the ethics of fast food. The story was featured on BBC Radio Sussex on Tuesday, March 25 including interviews in the town.

It's not the first time there has been speculation about fast food stores opening in Rye. Rumours about McDonald's coming to the town continue to be raised online and last year speculation about Greggs taking over the bookmaker's shop on Cinque Ports Street was rife after a joker posted an announcement in the store window.
