No wellies needed. Just rock

Leave your wellies at home. This rock fest is forecast to be sunny!

Forget your wellies - even though the Glastonbury Festival is only days away.

Glastonbury is notorious for being the rock festival which ends up as a sea of mud, but the Meterological Office has been forecasting sunny intervals for this year's Oakfest this Saturday June 17 in a field off the A268 towards Peasmarsh from Rye.

The gates open at lunchtime (12:30pm) on Saturday and the music starts from 1:30pm. Camping is allowed apparently (if you really want to get in the mood) but dogs are not - as this is a sheep farm.

However there will be beer (real ales), a barbecue, a bouncy castle, a raffle and stalls, and entrance is £5 for adults and £1 for children.

The music line-up includes Red Diesel, the Kavemen, local new boy on the scene Tommy Ludford (at around 6:45pm), Whisper To A Scream, Ben Westwood, Marvellous Mo and the Backline Ferrets (who should be at home on a farm), Who's Brian, and The Good, the Bad and the Not So Ugly. The Kavemen are the final act at around 11-ish.

This year's festival is being held in aid of the local RNLI lifeboat station down at Rye Harbour which is fundraising for a new boat.
