On Sunday April 24, Renee Shanks of Peasmarsh, but well-known in Rye as the manager of the Gentlemen’s Quarters barber shop on Cinque Ports Street, will be putting down her scissors to take part in the London marathon.
Her aim is to raise money for the Pilgrims Hospices in East Kent in gratitude for the wonderful care they gave her sister Michelle when she was dying of breast cancer in June 2015.
In order to achieve this goal, she joined Rye Runners and recently took part in the Hastings half-marathon.
