Support the Creative Centre so new leaseholder can see how vibrant it is

A preview of a new, touring exhibition at the Rye Creative Centre in New Road took place on Friday April 12. It was curated by Paintl.ounge and called Im/material bodies. It included some interesting paintings, especially from Paula MacArthur and Sharon Haward. The artists suggest that in this show they query whether the human spirit can be embodied materially, drawing parallels between canvas, paper and paint. They hope to distill feelings and intuitions into static objects.

The Creative Centre gallery is a valuable, light and easy to view space for the artists renting the studios. Rye Creative Centre itself is currently in a transition period, with East Sussex County Council in the process of selecting a new leaseholder for the building. However, the centre continues to offer fantastic creative classes including life drawing, print making and yoga alongside the ongoing programme of exhibitions.

The present exhibition goes on to May 10, 11-7.30 and is free to enter. There is plenty of car parking. If interested in their classes please go to their website.
