Wednesday marketeers are delighted to see Philip Ashton-Cobb back at the Farmers' Market. He is selling fresh vegetables, but that's not all. He's there with a range of other goods representing the Rye Country Market which is held each Friday morning at the Rye Community Centre on Conduit Hill. Philip told me "I'll be here as long as there's fresh produce to sell". John Holbrook, chairman of the Country Market said: "the committee has been looking to extend to other venues and we have done other outside events before. We will be having a stall at the Rye & District Country Show on August 13. It's all part of our more proactive advertising".

The Farmers' Market is held on Strand Quay every Wednesday, rain or shine, from 10 am till noon. One can buy fresh fish and shellfish, bread and cheeses of many different sorts, vegetables, pastries and ready made meals, and meat delicacies. Then there are the plant and vegetable stalls - the list goes on. Not only is it a colourful scene, it's a place to meet one's friends  and have a chat.
