New exhibition at art gallery
Rye Art Gallery Jarvis

A new exhibition opens at Rye Art Gallery on July 7. It features the work of Roland Jarvis, a multi-talented French artist who lived in Hastings for 18 years and died in his studio aged 90 in 2016.
He was remarkable for his stylistic range and his exuberant use of colour. He told an interviewer once: “I’ve been very lucky to be able to do what I want. If I get an idea, I can do it. I don’t think in terms of style, I like a variety of styles. I use whatever media that best express what I want to paint. I just play.”
The exhibition continues until August 5 in Galleries 3 - 5. More examples of Jarvis’s work can be found here
Meanwhile, in Studio Gallery 6 another exhibition continues until July 27 entitled Skyscapes from the permanent collection.
