Narrow defeat for Casuals II

Although they managed to equalise in the first half, Icklesham Casuals 2nd team couldn't keep pace with high-flying Orington, who are now joint leaders in the East Sussex football league division six

Following the Christmas break, Icklesham Casuals 2nd team lost narrowly to Orington, new joint leaders of division six in the East Sussex football league, on Saturday. Orington took an early lead through Scott Quested, but Casuals started to play some good football and were the better side in the first half, with Dan Russell equalising after a mazy run.

Orington were more dominant after the break, however, and after a number of chances went begging, retook the lead midway into the half when Scott Brunton converted after a series of corners. Despite several late chances for both sides, Orington held their nerve to collect the win and the three points.

The 1st team match at home to Hollington United II was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

This Saturday's fixtures (January 17) see the 1st team play away to Sidley United and the 2nd team play at home to Sandhurst 2nds, both matches starting at 2pm.
