Four days of intense music making came to an end on Sunday evening, June 26, with the lyrical rendering of Schumann's Piano Quartet in E flat major, the finale of the Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival.
Anthony Marwood and Richard Lester between them had concocted a programme which, while paying brilliant homage to the classical greats, yet weighed in strongly with 20th century composers from Bartok and Kodaly to Stravinsky and Shostakovich.
The event was studded with internationally recognised performers, including the Castalian String Quartet and the London Mozart Players and included individual artists such as pianists Alasdair Beatson and Alexander Melnikov, cellist Christoph Richter and Carmit Zori, pictured above with Anthony Marwood.
Members of the audience returned again and again to listen to the eight concert series. For the most part, the sun shone and the gathering of long-formed festival acquaintances and familiar faces in the grounds of St Peter and St Paul church at Peasmarsh added to the enjoyment of this superb musical entertainment.
