Mud, mud, glorious mud

"Mud, mud, glorious mud" seems an unlikely finale for an Arts Festival music event - but when you stage a special evening based on the wit and wisdom of some of Britain's greatest musical humorists what can you expect ?

Mud, mud, glorious mud
David Flood Trio and audience

Billed as "a special evening of music surrounding the wit and wisdom of some of England's greatest musical humorists, including Flanders & Swann, Noel Coward, Stilgoe & Skellern, et al", the David Flood Trio concert last Saturday was a complete sell out, writes Irna Mortlock. The Trio played to a packed and appreciative audience who joined in with gusto, singing many of the familiar songs, During the interval, the Open Studios were visited and the local New Road Artists' work much admired.

The second half then continued and  finished with the unanimous request for "Mud, Mud, glorious Mud". After encores and massive applause, David Flood promised to return. A spokesperson from ARRCC (Activities, Respite, Rehabilitation, Care Centres) expressed thanks to Rye Arts Festival "for helping to show local residents that there's an exciting venue worth crossing 'the bridge' for!"
