An excellent day was enjoyed on Tuesday August 6, as Rye hosted Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). Thanks to everyone who made a contribution to ensure Rye provided good food, drink, hospitality and a good game of cricket.
MCC scored 248-3 declared. Rye in reply fell 20 runs short. 16 year old Luke Payton struck a wonderful 92 and posted a partnership with George Wathen (41) that took Rye into a strong position. The MCC were forced into ringing the boundary to halt the progress of Payton.
A late blitz of huge sixes by Altaf Ahmad (31) was not enough. A great day and looking forward to 2021 already.
