Raising funds for hospital

Local runs London Marathon
Many miles covered in preparation

The London Marathon is one of the biggest events in the UK’s sporting calendar and is always a joy to watch on TV and support your favourite charities.

This year it is to be run on Sunday, October 2, as like last year it is taking place later in the year due to the pandemic but has given the opportunity for participants to train during the more pleasant summer months.

Lloyd Stone in training

Rye resident Lloyd Stone is running in this year’s event, raising much needed funds for our Rye and Winchelsea District Memorial Hospital. This institution has been a steady pillar of our community for many years and continues to offer critical rehabilitation support to local residents.

Lloyd, who has been running with the support of the 20:20 Running Club, said "It’s such an honour to be representing Rye Hospital in this year’s race. The training has been one of the hardest things I’ve done, but it’s nothing compared to the efforts of all our hospital staff."

All money raised will go towards much needed beds and rehabilitation facilities for patients. Donations can be made at Lloyd’s Just Giving page, please give what you can!
