Rye has returned to normal after hosting the hugely successful Rye International Jazz and Blues festival over the bank holiday weekend. The town was packed, the weather held out (well most of the time anyway) and a good time was had by all.
There’s always something happening in Rye and if you are still at a loss as to what to do this weekend and if the kids deserve a treat, why not make your way to Rye Salts (opposite the former Skinners garage) and you will find the ‘Super Family Funfair’ with free entry. It’s there this weekend, finishing on Sunday, September 4, but until then, open daily from 1pm until late.
All adult rides are £3 per person, children’s rides are £2 per person and if you are concerned about where to park, don’t be, Rye has plenty of parking within a level walk of the fairground so what’s stopping you?
While in town, have a wander round and take in the amazing architecture. Why not visit the Rye Heritage Centre and see the amazing working model of Rye with its sound show in various languages. If this doesn’t row your boat, the Rye Museum is a must see. The Discovery Centre at Rye Harbour is only a short drive away with its amazing nature reserve with acres of space for the kids to wear themselves out. And for a bit of culture, why not visit the galleries or relax in the Kino or sample the delights of any of the numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants in and around town.
