Following the report last month in Rye News, about ESCC contractors painting the town's lamp posts with black gloss paint, obliterating the Rye crest emblem and the gold band, we understand that Rye Town Council is considering whether the crests can be repainted as before and are looking at options.
We are please to report that Rye Conservation Society has agreed to offer assistance towards the cost of reinstatement, perhaps in purchasing the paint.
