Last Sunday was thankfully a dry one. The wind was cold but the sun was out helping to give a great photo opportunity to capture the St George’s Day parade. Participants assembled outside Adams’s before joining the flag bearers, our mayor, town crier, vicar and members of Rye Town Council as they kindly posed for photographs on the steps of the town hall.

The procession made its way around to the rear of St Mary’s church then filed inside to the peel of bells, joining the waiting public as they took their positions. A brief service by the Revd Paul White followed during which scouts were sworn in and the scouts and brownies renewed their vows.

The gallery of photographs below capture the occasion far better than words and a good attendance by participants, churchgoers and visitors to Rye made sure the St George’s Day parade was another successful event in our town’s rich cultural calendar.
