Icklesham advance in the cup

Goals, goals, goals. Icklesham junior football teams have a mixed week, David Mayne reports

Icklesham Casuals 1st team reached the last eight of the Hastings FA Junior Cup with a 7-0 win away to Burwash.

After a fairly even opening period, Icklesham took the lead just past the mid-point in the first half through Steffan Davies and a fine finish from Ollie Beaumont 10 minutes later doubled the lead. The second period was dominated by the Casuals with Jack Barry completing a hat-trick and Chris Osunsami and Sean Baker also finding the net. The reward is a home tie with Crowhurst in the quarter-final.

In their previous game, Icklesham's 2nd team unluckily lost 5-4 to Sedlescombe Rangers 4th team after leading 4-1 late into the match. Last Saturday the 2nd team lost 10-0 to a Wittersham side which is far too good for East Sussex League Division Five.

This Saturday November 26 the 1st team look to continue their recent good form as they travel away to face Crowhurst in the East Sussex League Division 1 whilst the 2nd team entertain Hollington United 2nds in the Robertsbridge Junior Cup.
