High jinks in Winchelsea

As usual, this Boxing Day, no ancient street game was played in Winchelsea. Three teams did not gather outside the town well at mid-morning. There were no spectators and the results of the match were not announced in advance. There was no ultra violent neo-rugby match, played on tarmac with risk of serious injury. The non-event was not followed by festive drinks in a nearby cellar.
