Harbour opposition grows
Long Rake Spar

Over recent months, Rother District Council has received a number of applications from businesses along Harbour Road looking to expand their operations including ones from The Saltings, Old Mears, and Churchfields Industrial Estate / Long Rake Spar.

A number of the applications have yet to be decided and one of the outstanding ones is the hugely unpopular planning application submitted by the Bakewell based company Long Rake Spar, who have applied to expand their operations as well as extend their operating times to 24 hours a day.

The negative response to their application has been staggering with over 240 letters of objection to Rother District Council, including a formal objection from Icklesham Parish Council, Sussex Wildlife Trust and Rye Conservation Society, as well as a petition signed by over 1,200 people.
