I was at the new Garden Gems garden centre at Salts Farm just after the opening at 10am on Friday, April 12.
Already it was busy with the till happily zinging and the plants sparkling. As I left the car park was getting busier.
Rye now has a Gem of a Garden Centre.
Editor's note: So many houses in Rye - even in the close-packed Citadel area - have some sort of a garden, ranging from the magnificent to sometimes little more than a patio and until now, although there are a few stockists of some gardening tools, there has, surprisingly, been no dedicated garden centre. That has now changed and the new one is likely to prove a welcome addition for the town's many gardeners and allotment holders.
