Fundraiser by mayor

A wonderful evening with two fantastic soloists

Fundraiser by mayor
Rebekah Gilbert

Some readers might have found the preview of the mayor's upcoming concert in the Winchelsea church, in last week's Rye News and decided to attend the Saturday, August 14 concert. "Our Favourite Things" was a musical feast as Rebekah Gilbert's (mayor) mezzo voice reached a beauty and clarity which was awesome. Jonathan Breeds' (Rye Town councillor) baritone was full and reverberated in the wonderful church when he performed Toreador from the opera Carmen.

Singing together their voices complimented each other performing the eclectic choices of Handel, Wagner, Schubert, Bizet and many other composers. Rebekah ended with the solo "La vie en Rose" (made famous by Edith Piaf), which was stunning. The mayor's charities are free music lessons for students with the Rye Wurlitzer Academy and funds for young people starting up new businesses in association with the Rye Old Scholars Association.

Rebekah is also a clinical sports massage therapist. For more information email info@vivawellbeing.com.
