Don't miss Timberlina and Dr Aspalls' Sunday Soiree at the Queen's Head on September 29 as part of the Rye Arts Festival.
On Friday July 19, Timberlina, 'glamorous bearded lady', to quote his Facebook page, gave an eclectic audience a taste of his humour in songs about the environment/plastic and other social issues.
Accompanied by brilliant blues pianist Phil Law (Dr Aspalls) and performing on one of the balconies of the Old Borough Arms in the Strand, rain eventually forced the artists, their instruments and the audience to squeeze into the limited space inside.
It became very cosy, but that didn't spoil the enjoyment with full audience participation when invited to join the chorus. It was a riotous evening.
A young guest musician from Rye, Grace Baker, joined them for three songs. She said that she has been singing (mainly at home) since she was 15. Her voice, accompanied with her electric guitar was beautiful and gentle.
The performance in September is advertised in the Rye Arts Festival brochure as: "The number 1 ecological local legend hostess, Timberlina and Dr Aspalls with special guest chanteuse Rachel Cuming." The entrance to the evening is free so early arrival is advised.
