Fire broke out at at Broomhill Farm on the Camber to Lydd road last Friday morning, September 29. Emergency services were called out at 10:28am to attend the blaze, which had apparently spread to the farmhouse from an adjacent barn.
At the height of the fire at the agricultural and domestic property, six appliances, the aerial ladder platform, the command unit from Bexhill, and two water bowsers were present with more than 30 firefighters on the scene. Relief crews took over at 3pm to bring the fire finally under control, but the farmhouse was substantially destroyed.
The owner, Mr Cook, and his family evacuated the house in plenty of time, so fortunately there were no casualties.
